Degrees

Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary offers the Associate, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level of studies in Religious Education, Ministry and Theology. A Doctorate in Philosophy in Biblical Studies is offered only to students having already obtained a Doctorate in Theology. The following is a brief description of each field of study.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
The Religious Education Degree Program is designed to assist students in preparation for the administration of various educational programs related to the ministry of the church.

MINISTRY
The Ministry Degree Program is designed to assist students in preparation for the pastorate and related ministries.

THEOLOGY
The Theology Degree Program is designed to assist students in the study of God’s Revelation and His relationship to man.

BIBLICAL STUDIES
The Biblical Studies Degree Program is designed to assist the student in the study of the various themes contained in the Bible.

Degree Programs

Associate Degree Programs (RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, MINISTRY, THEOLOGY)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 15 Credits from the Old Testament
  • 15 Credits from the New Testament
  • 15 Credits from Doctrinal Studies
  • 15 Credits in related skills and ministry preparation

Bachelor Degree Programs (RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, MINISTRY, THEOLOGY)

  • Associate degree in a relevant field of study with at least 60 hours
  • 15 Credits from the Old Testament
  • 15 Credits from the New Testament
  • 15 Credits from Doctrinal Studies
  • 15 Credits in related skills and ministry preparation

Master Degree Programs (RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, MINISTRY, THEOLOGY)

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field of study with at least 120 hours
  • 6 Credits in Old Testament Studies
  • 6 Credits in New Testament Studies
  • 6 Credits in Doctrinal Studies
  • 6 Credits in studies of related skills and ministry preparation
  • 8 Credit hours in independent research studies inclusive of 4 research projects.
  • 4 Credit hours in research and preparation of a Master Thesis in a related field.

Doctor Degree Programs (RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, MINISTRY)

  • Master degree in a relevant field of study with at least 36 credit hours
  • 6 Credits in Old Testament Studies
  • 6 Credits in New Testament Studies
  • 6 Credits in studies of related skills and ministry preparation
  • 12 Credit hours in independent research studies inclusive of 4 research projects.
  • 6 Credit hours in research and preparation of a Doctoral Dissertation

Doctor of Theology Program

  • Doctoral Degree in a relevant field with at least 36 credit hours
  • 12 credit hours in independent research studies in the field of Theology inclusive of 4 research projects.
  • 8 Credit hours in research and preparation of a Doctoral Dissertation

Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies

  • Doctorate Degree in Theology
  • 4 credit hours in independent research studies in various themes of the Bible.
  • 8 Credit hours in research and preparation of a Doctoral Dissertation
